Courtney Jade Davis was born on February 6th, 1991 and was a fourth generation Sonoma County resident.  In 2003, Courtney Jade Davis, a student at Cloverdale High School organized the first Pumpkin Patch fundraiser.  The proceeds benefitted The Cloverdale Family Service and her school.   The following year, she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer and on January 5th, 2008, she succumbed to the disease.   Courtney’s fight and amazing attitude were an inspiration and her death left a hole in the heart of the entire community.

In 2008, her family set up a scholarship in her memory at Cloverdale High School.  As a fundraising effort for the scholarship, her friends and family decided to carry on the “Pumpkin Patch” in her name.   Each year, its success grows and in turn so does the scholarship.   It is a cash award for students who have Courtney’s characteristics; like being brave in the face of adversity, showing tenacity, being a leader and being honest.   And, most of all, helping others and animals in the community in need, which Courtney loved doing.
